West Wycombe Retaining Steps and Beds

As with many inclining gardens, the need for a level entertaining space needs to be weighed up with the costs attributed. The before, during and after photos of this West Wycombe project show what amount of excavation and soil retainment is needed to create a usable area.

Large scale concrete footings were laid to take the weight of the tumbled fossil mint sandstone walling and steps. Beds were also included. Timberstone imitation sleepers in ‘Driftwood’ colour provide a long lasting alternative to sandstone in this large hard landscaped area. A pizza oven was supplied, which we rendered and laid on smooth Brazilian slate work tops. The oven gets so hot, it only takes 60 seconds to cook a pizza! The steps and the rest of the paving were again fossil mint sandstone.
